The Welsh Dee is not renowned for its Brown Trout fishing however in recent years the population has increased and anglers can enjoy some magnificent sport at certain times.
During the months of April and May Brown Trout can be seen in large numbers feeding on Grannom and Olives and daytime rises are phenomenal at times. Brown Trout are also active during the summer evenings of June July and August and specimens up to 2lbs are often caught on dry fly at this time.
Although generally speaking Brown Trout patterns are similar to those used for Grayling, some patterns are more succesful than others. The Brown Trout of the Welsh Dee find the ones below irresistable.
