The Wharf

Salmon – Sea Trout –  Brown Trout – Grayling

The Wharf is one of the oldest CADAC beats and has over the years accounted for a large number of Salmon. Although anglers may fish for Trout and Grayling here it is considered to be a Salmon beat and due to the nature of the banks it is primarily a spinning and bait beat.

This beat is a series of slow deep pools and produces fish on low and high water. Due to the nature of the river here the Wharf is fishable in high water when other beats are rendered unfishable.

The Work Party members have recently completed a great deal of work at the Wharf increasing and improving access to several areas. This beat is often overlooked by members, however for those who do fish it regularly the Wharf continues to reward them.

What3words:  Beat Parking ///

On the A5 travelling from Corwen – Head out of Corwen towards Llangollen and proceed past a guest house and farm on your left. Once the road straightens look for the lay-by on your right halfway down the stretch before the village of Llidiart y Parc.

From the Llangollen direction proceed through the villages of Glyndyfrdwy and Llidiart y Parc heading for Corwen. Pass a farm and guest house on your right and after a few hundred yards the parking is on the right.

Access to the beat – From the lay-by cross the A5 and take the public footpath which is photographed below. Proceed through the gate, cross the bridge over a small stream, go through another gate, cross the railway and walk a few yards upstream. Go over the stile and keep riverside of the fence – do not walk up the railway. Stay riverside of the fence at all times when walking this beat.
