This is another one of the CADAC main beats and it’s a mixture of slow deep pools, fast broken water, glides and riffles.
As a Salmon fishery it offers the angler the choice of fly, worm and spinning tactics and several Salmon are caught on this beat every year. Trout and Grayling anglers are able to use a variety of tactics on this water due to its varied nature. Access and parking are excellent at this location.

1) Members with the relevant permits and rod licences may fish for Salmon, Sea Trout, Brown Trout and Grayling.
2) Night time fishing for Sea Trout until 3am is allowed on the whole of this beat. Sea Trout fishing at night is strictly ‘fly only’.

Access from the A5 to the top of the beat – take the B5437 towards Carrog, go over the railway bridge and proceed over the river bridge. Once you’ve crossed the bridge turn immediately right and travel along the single track road – the first parking area is on the right and is situated at the top of the St David’s beat.
Access from the A5104 to the top of the beat – If travelling from the Chester direction take the left turn which is sign posted for Carrog. Proceed along this road for just over a mile. At the bottom of the hill and at the T Junction turn left and proceed through the village of Carrog. As you leave Carrog with the Grouse Inn on your left bear left at the bridge and follow the single track road described above. Access to the top of the beat is over the wooden rail structure pictured below.
Access to the bottom of the beat – pass the top of beat locations detailed above and follow the road travelling in a downstream direction. After approximately 500m look for the CADAC sign on the right – immediately in front of this there is a gate. Parking for the bottom of the beat is through this gate and in the field – please be aware that after long periods of heavy rain this parking area can be closed.
